Re: pings on sky broadband, high or low

      Cheers for that, Mark.

Doesn't help me much though so possibly something to do with Easynet at the Roath exchange possibly.

Guess I might live with it for 12 months at least (as I can get on games around 80-100ms) and then decide (as if I cancel it now, I will be without internet access for 2-6 weeks).

Re: pings on sky broadband, high or low

im also in the bad ping category, ive tried a speed test and get the following, (note i know nothing on networks and pings, servers etc.

for 8mb b/b is that correct or limited?

i need to get down to 40-50 ping or it makes gaming impossible with a 60-80 ping. but reading here you all say that sky wont turn interleaving off. which means im stuck and it sucks... is there any solution!??!... like eventually they will fix... or am i doomed?

Re: pings on sky broadband, high or low

I think you are doomed like the rest of us.
I emailed Sky Tech Support 3 weeks ago but didn't hear anything back (not that I expected to)

Your upload and download speeds are slightly better than mine but they don't have a lot to do with pings.
Partly down to interleaving being on which adds 20 ms.

One day, I did manage to get mine down from 80ms to about 60ms somehow by chance (via switching router off and moving it onto the floor and as far away from any other interference).
But later that day, I had loss of connection a lot while browsing so switched router off and on again and now back to constant 80ms again.

Re: pings on sky broadband, high or low

another disappointment of being with sky.

      i was with orange/wanadoo and got 30-40ms, now i get 70-80

that after all the other problems with sky i have had. lol, i would phone up and ask to go onto the faster ping method but i am fed up of talking to the barely literate fools that answer the phones at sky!

Re: pings on sky broadband, high or low

Well i've just played BF2142 quite well with a ping of 22ms - the only problem i had was i was using the wireless - with another socket it'll be fine!
