Now if only they'd open up the weather and news channels and let us download the Opera browser I'd find it more useful.

I've heard a vicious rumour that we'll have to pay for the Internet channel when it's finally released... Personally, the thing I most want to see is some Internet multiplayer ability! It is a little disheartening that all we can do online at the moment is spend money. Oh, and exchange Miis!

Multiplayer gaming via Wiiconnect24 is definitely overdue. Messing about with Miis and photographs by sharing them with friends gets old real quick.

As for the internet channel (Opera browser) my understanding was that it would be free for a period of time (6 months according to rumours on the net) before having a charge associated with it. I'm hoping that's the case as I really can't see why I should have to pay for such a simple feature.

It's a one off fee - Free forever if you download it in the first six months.

PS. I'm hunting for a Wii - If anyone knows where there are some stock, give me a PM!

There are some fine models going on eBay for around 350... but then if they weren't all being bought to sell back on eBay, maybe there would be some in the shops!

I cannot remember the exact dates but apparently the Weather, News and Opera Channels are coming out later this month, and Opera will be free to download for around six months.

Ok - I am being very thick here.

For the Sky Router (DG834GT) what Wireless settings do you need to get the Wii to see the network ?

And once the router is setup, do you just tell to Wii to look for a "gateway" or whatever it's called ?

Got it all set up and working (with WEP encryption ... and only named MAC devices allowed to connect) and it's working fine.

To be honest I am suprised it's working so well given the number the solid brick/concrete walls the signal from the Wii has to go through.

Re: Nintendo Wii And Sky Broadband

Finally managed to order a Wii

Due next week, from Amazon, so I'll be connecting it to my Sky Router as soon as I get it home.

Surprised the Wii supports WPA & WPA2 (seeing as the DS only does WEP), but good for Nintendo
