What is World Of Warcraft like/about?

I'm possibly in the market for a new online game as my current pleasures seem to dieing out.
I'm not really after moving into the FPS areana, although BF2142 demo is fun.

Do you have to pay for it? If so is it like buying a game or is it like EVE online, pay monthly?

I'd play EVE but you have to pay monthly and it was so unstable when i played the trial. Plus its a bit too sort of.. you seem set back away from things.. as apoosed to actually flying your ships etc.

Wow... lol i ment woow sure sounds like a bargin!

I personaly can't be doing with montly fees for a game. Not got the money to waste for one but it just feels wrong some how too. Also bit of a comitment for a game!

      But each to their own!

It is loads of fun BF2142 but i'm not going down that road.

      Any other ideas?

Sorry to hijack the thread!! I should set up one of my own!

Yeah it was fun, got to 60 then got bored, its fun while levelling but all those instances at 60 really get annoying, especially getting an item set, doing the same thing time and time again - BORING. So I gave up, but I do miss the guild chat that was fun....

It's a massive timesink like all mmorpgs - my first proper experience with one, never thought I'd get sucked into a game to this extent (even though I think WoW is kinda regarded as mmorpg-lite). Easily dumped more hrs into WoW than all the games I've ever played combined - quit now before you get hooked!

been playing WoW for 2 years now, and played Eve Online first.

i am also hooked, but actually not paying at the moment due to moving house and only just getting BB again.

the game can be picked up for 10-15, and the monthly cost is like 9 - think of it as a CD a month

they do have a good website, helpful forums, and new content is added regularly - makes it a bit better to swallow.
