you would be better off putting your xbox in dmz mode it is risky but you get a open nat on most games i tried port forwarding and it kept changing from open to moderate for some reason maybe i did it wrong who knows lol.

I tried both port fowarding & DMZ on my ps3, with no real reason to do so & couldn't detect any difference whatsoever.

I chose to leave it in DMZ mode for the day when i do encounter a game that would otherwise give me NAT type issues

I've read that NAT problems are more likely to occur with older router models / firmware, due to UPnP functionality being out of date.

hum that is possible with upnp i know i sometimes have issues with it to but i usally reset my router which is instead of switching it off buy the button or power brick. one thing i do notice when its in dmz mode if i am playing cod call of duty black ops or something if a match starts it makes all the texture go funny weird like theres this horrible blue yellow texture over the walls ceilings etc but it disapears after a few seconds.

Re: Is it worth port forwarding.

I always give my consoles and home devices a static IP. I had issues with my DS in the past where the console wouldn't connect the next day, giving it a static IP fixed the problem. Always used UPNP myself and get Open NAT all the time.
