Constant lag spikes playing League of Legends

      Hi,

The last 4-5 weeks of playing this game I get constant lag spikes up to ~600 ms every 1 minute or so that last for 5-10 sec. This only happens on this game. I have been in contact with their server admins and they assure me that it is not their servers.

Re: Constant lag spikes playing League of Legends

I think I have pinpointed my issue.

Here you can see the following message:

      ICSI Netalyzr — Results

Network buffer measurements (?): Uplink 2500 ms, Downlink 310 ms

We estimate your uplink as having 2500 msec of buffering. This is quite high, and you may experience substantial disruption to your network performance when performing interactive tasks such as web-surfing while simultaneously conducting large uploads. With such a buffer, real-time applications such as games or audio chat can work quite poorly when conducting large uploads at the same time.

How would one go about changing this uplink buffer size?

      Thanks.

Have you asked Sky to reduce your Delay or put you on a Gaming profile? This may result in a reduction in speed, so it is up to you whether gaming is more important than speed.

      Hi, thanks for the reply.

I just called sky and spoke to the higher technical team and they said it isn't within their power to change the network buffer size so now I am at a loss as to what to do.

Did you ask for a gamer profile? There is a 4608/800 profile which would suit you fine. Ask them to put you on that. If they say they can't do it, hang up and call back until you get someone who can.

I think the 'network buffer size' is a bit of a red herring. If it were true thousands would be effected, not just you.

Re: Constant lag spikes playing League of Legends

Hi, sorry to necro a thread but this isn't very far down the forums and I didn't think it was worth making a new thread.

Anyway, I'm having the exact same problem as Xpipe, except that additionally, my brother who plays World of Warcraft pings out nearly every time he enters an arena, and I can't connect to anything in Company of Heroes, at all, I simply get a message stating that there is a problem with my connection. Could this be caused by a high delay aswell? Would swapping to a gaming profile decrease my delay and solve the problem in all 3 games?

It just seems strange that instead of lagging in CoH it just denies me completely.

      Anyway, thanks for the help.

Have you definitely got the Sky SR101 Hub?

Or is it the Sagem 2504n by any chance?

Sorry, that information is misleading, you are correct, it is infact a Sagem 2504n.

EDIT: Changed my profile information so I'm not feeding you guys nonsense. Although I'm not entirely sure which package the broadband and TV are on, as it isn't me that deals with it.

I was off to bed, but I have noticed a fair few issues being reported over the last few days, since that router has had a FW update. Especially with lagging etc

Have a look in the router and copy and paste the FW version so others can see if that is the issue perhaps?

I'll have a check back over the thread tomorrow.

Re: Constant lag spikes playing League of Legends

Yeah ok, I forgot to mention that I haven't been getting the lag for weeks like Xpipe, It's only been for the past couple of days, so the firmware upgrade might be a good shout.

      Firmware Version 6.14.1a4N_UNI
      ADSL Firmware Version A2pD035g.d23j1

      Cheers for the help
