I can only advise you stay on a wired connection
people running on wireless are what cause most problems
with fps games not just for yourself but for other users

I do notice match making on the ps3 is quite poor
compared to on my 360 though

      Re: MW3 & Sky b'band

Thanks for the help so far folks, appreciated.

But....going to wired gave me my first ever feeling that I may have been host and connection was 2 bars, so I'm a bit nervy of staying wired, although I can see the logic behind why I should.

Can anyone explain why I connect to high ping games despite my low ping????

EDIT: which ping value should I take as accurate - the one from speedtest or pingtest? The reason I ask is that the ping value from speedtest is 74ms compared to 35ms from the speedtest site.

      Re: MW3 & Sky b'band

      if you have black op's
send me a message and you can test latency to me

      I dont have mw3 on the ps3

east coast americans pull a 4 bar to me
so if you cant muster a 4 bar you have problems somewhere

Btw to tell if you are host in mw3
it says awaiting challenge 1 in the loading screen
and on a host migration host says awaiting challenge 0

if you where host and everyone was 2 bar thats the lag compensation in play
due to you not having enough upstream

get sky to uncap you uptream you have plenty of margin left

      Re: MW3 & Sky b'band

      ping bbc.co.uk
      from a command prompt
anything from 25-32ms is a sign your delays are 8
depending on your distance from london internet exchange

oh and homeplugs add a good 3-5ms btw
hard wired is the way to go

      Re: MW3 & Sky b'band

What is the command I need? I did a tracer route to bbc.co.uk and the results are on page 1....is that the same thing?

Let me know your PSN ID and all try and connect to you. Can't do tonight although I could do tomorrow evening between 4.30pm and 6.00pm if that's any good to you?

Can you explain the host thing in mw3 a bit more? Am I right in thinking that if 'awaiting challenge' starts on 1 then I'm host? If it doesn't I'm not host?

      Re: MW3 & Sky b'band

      command is as follows

      ping bbc.co.uk -n 20

      to test stability

Sure my psn id is ShonkUK

I dont go on psn though much let me know on here when your on
      im usually on my xbox

Yes when the game is loading in if it Says Awaiting Challenge 1 as the first thing your host

if the host quits a new host is selected 100% on ping
so you wont win that often (I win it 100% of the time)

That says Awaiting challenge 0 if you get selected
