This should help in identifying a master socket and then taking stats from the test socket.

Yes friend. That's the whole purpose. We need your stats from the test socket.

      Re: - D-Link - network Lag Problems

We compare your stats from the master socket or an extension to your test socket and advise accordingly if you need to sort your wiring out. Your line is currently capped to a slower speed which is evident from the stats you posted previously. By looking at your stats from the test socket we will be able to tell how much it can be improved.

When you are plugged into the test socket none of your phones should be working. Make sure you check that. I also want you to ping bbc.co.uk and post your stats.

To ping go to start -> run -> type cmd -> then type ''ping bbc.co.uk'' without the quotation marks and post your results.

      1. In your Mum's room, ensure that there is a microfilter (box with 'phone' and 'modem') connected correctly i.e. as the first thing connected, with NOTHING, such a sky tv splitters (two-way blank white boxes), before the filter.

      2. See Q.1.

      3. Again, ensure there is nothing before the filter (the white two-way 'phone' and 'modem' box you're referring to). If there is a device before the filter, then remove it, as it's incorrect.

      4. Keep using the short grey dsl cable. Do not run an extension telephone cable.

      5. See Q.1. again. I'll hazard a guess that the way the tv is connected is the source of your problems.

      6. The 'socket' to the right hand side behind your master socket's faceplate (example in the picture below):

      Re: - D-Link - network Lag Problems

Ok Thanks, Ill Post my results tomorrow when my dad brings the specific screwdriver for the screws on the master socket plug.

Just so you know mine looks like this but After the master socket there is this little rectangle extension socket that I connect to the master socket and at the other end i put the micro filter init, the one with the '' Modem '' & '' phone '' Options

So Should I Just connect this Micro Filter straight to the master socket and forget about the extension?

      Re: - D-Link - network Lag Problems

Anything before the filter will cause issues, so disconnect the splitter that is connected and make sure that the filter is the first thing connected into the telephone socket. Ensure this is the case in both sockets that you're using.

Once you've done that, then re-post the stats.
