Might not be a bad idea to call Sky, get past Tier 1 and see if CST can provide an updated list of exchanges with issues.

What are your speed like when it is not at peak times?
I'd agree with this, it was fine night before last but previous to that it was bad night after night.

      It's PERFECT during the day

      Very suspicious.

Could you take a little wander outside for us please?

Take a look at your telephone cable and trace it back to your green BT street box. Look at where it runs in relation to the street lights, any local power substation or any other electrical or radio sources.

Take a look at the roof tops & gardens of any local houses for any aerials that aren't suitable for TV or radio reception (e.g. for listening to BBC Radio 1).

Taxi firms would be broadcasting at all times of the day, so in this instance it could be unlikely.

I believe our green street box is some way away from my house, it's near a crossroad. As i have a cable from house to pole

As for roof tops and gardens i'll take a look at some point soon

Re: Please help!!! intermittent ping problems....

I am wondering if you you have an issue with something known as REIN.

Essentially this can be caused by street lights that are faulty, amateur radios hams or CB enthusiasts, faulty electrical equipment or excess wiring in your home, near the telephone wiring.

The fact that you are experiencing the drop after dark indicates it is more likely to be caused by street lights.

I would now suggest that you obtain a portable radio and tune it in to 612KHz AM. Take a walk outside when you notice the speed drop and retrace your telephone line to the green street box.

You should be able to identify the cause quite quickly from the noise on the frequency. It will then be a case of approaching the person/agency who owns the offending item and ask them to fix it.

If the interference isn't so easy to find, you may need to purchase and fit a BT RF3 product. Depending on your wiring, this could be a faceplate or a junction box.

Apart from everything else, I think you have a wiring problem somewhere. With your attenuation you should get pretty near double what you have.

Can you plug into your Test socket if you have one and post your stats from there. It is quite possible the interference you are experiencing is coming from your own wiring.

Right first time. This is why is is not very wise to post in others threads unless you have a suggestion to make. It only causes confusion as you have just demonstrated.

Incidentally, just because the RF3 did nothing for you, does not mean it will not help the OP.

That's why I gave you instead of a If only everyone accepted a mild telling off like you.
Let's hope you get your own problem sorted soon.
