Could be that you need to open certain ports on the router for certain games but that shouldn't effect the initial connection to xbox live.

You could try the ethernet cable in another port on the router incase it is dodgy.

You can find your WAN uptime in the Router Stats it will be in the same place that you found the attenuation and SNR stats

      Re: McAfee Security

That would indicate that the router lost sync with the exchange 2hours 17mins and 11 seconds from when you posted that message.

That would lead me to conclude that you have an intermittent connection and the reason that you cant connect is because when you are trying to connect you have no internet access.

Could you try connecting the router to the Test Socket and then repost you stats again and we can see if your SNR has increased.

You could have CRC errors building on the line and therefore reducing your SNR and that could be what is causing you to have to re-sync with the exchange

Have you noticed any particular time of day that you are unable to connect or does it tend to be sporadic?

It's pretty sporadic to be honest, and that is from the test socket, I've had it plugged in there for some time.

      Re: McAfee Security

If you have a spare microfilter it wouldn't be a bad idea to change it just incase.

Can you confirm when you are using the test socket that all the other telephone sockets in the house are dead?

You might want to turn of everything electrical around the router

Might not be a bad idea to follow the link in my signature to have a look into REIN

      Re: McAfee Security

I managed to fix it in the end. The ethernet ports on the router were not working properly.

      Re: McAfee Security

That would explain it. Glad you got it working.

If you want to post your stats we can have a look and see if you are getting the best out of your connection.
