why oh why did i join sky

where do i begin , firstly its taken just over 2 months to get my sky modem , and now that i have it i wish i hadnt bothered, im disconnected more than im connected to the net, its bloody useless, its the dlink modem if that makes any difference, the speeds are stupidly slow when i joined sky i was told i could get there unlimited broadband upto 20mb download speeds then after 2 months i get told i can only get connect which is useless and costs me more money than i thought i was going to pay, the customer service is terrible, as i type this ive been on hold 45mins waiting for the 2nd tier team, would i recommend sky to a friend ................................most definatley not.

The first thing you should do is request your MAC code and leave, Sky Connect is useless and not worth a fraction of the price you pay for it.

I would second that!!! Although you are connecting at the maximum speed for Connect, you will get little use of it, especially during the peak period. Go to an LLU supplier if you can get one, any of them are better than Connect. If there are no LLU providers on your exchange, then Plusnet is one to consider, you can choose a package that suits your needs. Check here -

Hi your exchange is it Coxhoe or Bowburn. As 0191 377 is the Durham area and Sky have unbundled LLU exchanges in Durham

Re: why oh why did i join sky

As steve has said check if sky have installed llu services at your exchange recently and get on their llu service if possible. if not I can highly recommend either plusnet or idnet for your type of connection both will give you maximum speed available particulary idnet, from my experience with both idnet will give you a higher top speed and a rarely changed speed throughout te day and plusnet on their pro gaming package give you better traffic prioritisation I.e. Better pings for gaming which is essential for those online matches and gaming traffic gets a high priority, particularly pc gaming but Xbox live gaming is awesome as well only bad thing I personally have noticed is max speed is less with plusnet I.e. Bout 6.1-6.4 meg with them and 6.6-6.9 with idnet but both would be like going from pontins to a 5 star hotel in terms of quality of Internet connection.
