      Trace Route

Just a random/quick question. I notice on here when people on LLU do a tracert it shows something like cr1.(exchangecode).uk.easynet.net (eg: cr1.cmwil.uk.easynet.net) or something like that.

Mine is a newer unbundled exchange and my tracerts don't have the exchange code nor mention easynet.

I've noticed 3 or 4 different named hops though, seems 1 is in Manchester area and 2 are in London area...

      dr(x).bllon.isp.sky.com (london)
      dr(x).enlba.isp.sky.com (manchester)
      dr(x).enhmi.isp.sky.com (london)

Get around 5ms higher from the 2 London ones also

      Re: Trace Route

I can only guess it's perhaps you're connected to an ISAM, rather than Sky's 'old' lucent DSLAMs. I haven't really taken much notice, but I believe the 'old' DSLAMs are named 'cr0, cr1' etc. and SVBN ISAMs are 'bm0, bm1' etc. I've personally never seen one begin with 'drx'.

      Re: Trace Route

      I think its that

      Im on *.easynet
and my brother in law who goes to the same exchange but other side of my area is *.sky

      *.sky =ISAM
      *.easynet = DSLAM

      Re: Trace Route

I was told when i signed up i was connected to one of the brand new ISAMs. I'm only on SMPF tho, not full LLU (SVBN) so i'd expect just the standard DSLAM.
