      oops, my bad

You say that you're using your laptop with the router, are you using wifi or cable for the laptop?

This is getting odder, I've actually managed to reconnect by bridging the connection that my laptop has!
So now my xbox is on live by plugging the ethernet cable into my laptop, still want to sort the original problem if I can though

      That is strange.

So, is there any way that the router can issue IP to wifi but not to LAN ports? That would appear to be one possibility.

Re: Can't obtain ip address!? Help (Sagem f@st 2054)

Can you confirm that you have tried all the ethernet ports in the router? It is not unusual to find one or more ports not working.

As you have tried everything else, try this.
      1) Go to System Blade of Xbox 360 dashboard, select Network Settings.
      2) Click Edit Settings, then go to Basic Settings.
      3) Select Manual to set IP address, subnet mask and gateway manually. Use the following settings-
      IP address...192.168.0.254
      Subnet ..........255.255.255.0
      Gateway........192.168.0.1
      In the server section-
      DNS server....192.168.0.1

      4) Now go into the router settings, to the LAN IP Setup page, change the Ending IP Address to 192.168.0.253. Remember to click Apply.
      5) Switch off the power to the Router, plug in the Xbox, power up the router and when it is up and running, switch on the power to the Xbox.
