need some help!! nightmare sky connection

hi there im in need of some help with my sky connection, i fully understand i wont get 20mb unless i rebuild next to server, but 1/2 mb is a bit low!

until 3 days ag i got 3mb which while slow was adequate for me and my son the use it fox xbox live andmainley pes 2010. now its plain impossible.
from reading around the forum isee hwat peopleask for to help so i have included that info.
it is lan wired and not wireless although it isa 10m cable which from reading shouldnt matter.
its also the same on the laptops and main pc (please note if i game no other connection to internet is allowed ;-) )
i have contacted sky who ran atest and said the line was fine although after 5 minute argument the line is getting tested by a different department.

i have only 1 phone socket in the house and have the router in the test socket of this master.
      here are some details
      speed
      ping
      ping 2
      ping 3

thanks for any help in advance if any thing else is needed please let me know
      thx

Well your stats show a 5mb connection with a healthy noise margin so I cannot see anything obvious from that.

Can you remove everything except the one PC prom the network and boot it in safemode and do the speedtest on this site, have you checked for any nasties???

That would indicate that one or more of your pc's is infected with something or is downloading at the time you ran the speedtest. I would suggest you run a full scan using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on each of your machines and remove anything it finds.

You could probably narrow down the suspects by disconnecting everything from the router except one machine. Run a speed test with that and so on until you have covered them all.

Do you have torrents or P2P(SkyPlayer) running on a machine? This will slow you down considerably.

hi thanks for the advice i just ran malware software recomended in post above
i did a quick scan it found 6 trojans, restarted and ran test it was identical as previous.
i am now running a full scan and will then disconnect everything bar the 1 laptopthat i will connect via lan.

router came with 3 filters ive tried 2 , 1 of which i disconnected after i think was responsible for naff connection im going to find the 3rd1 and give that a whirl,
stranger things have happened than 2of3 not working.

thanks to all trying to asssist me i really do apreciate it!!!

Re: need some help!! nightmare sky connection

hi there a quick qustion , i stumbled upon a test for hops i think it was part of a route trace , some o f the stuff was quite alarming to say the least, does anyone know a reliable way to do this test? and a good adrees to use?

its so eratic its not funny , i know you see results of 3.5mb but it doesnt tell the story , on a test the speed shoots all over from 126k to 4mb something is amiss big time somewhere.

      cheers
