Re: New Sky Router - D-Link DSL-2640S for xbox live

      jimmyman -

If you used portforwarding to open the ports on the xbox360's ip address, then it's possible that the xbox's ip address has changed.

You can set up a static ip using the instructions below:

      # Power On Xbox 360 and navigate to the My Xbox main menu

Now from the My Xbox main menu scroll to the right until you get to the My Xbox System Settings.

Click on the System Settings window to launch the System Settings main configuration window. From the System Settings main configuration window you can access Console Settings, Family Settings, Memory, Network Settings, Computers, Xbox Live Vision, and the Initial Setup.

Scroll down the System Settings until you reach Network Settings which you should click on to launch the Network Settings configuration.

There are numerous settings here including Configure Network, Test Xbox Live Connection, Test PC Connection, and Test Windows Media Center. we only need to worry about Configure Network so go ahead and click on that to open the Configure Network configuration window as displayed below.

There are multiple items we will be configuring to make the static IP works properly including IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway IP Address.

With the green bar over top of the current IP address (it may be blank on your 360) click the A button to launch the IP Settings configuration window.

Now from the IP Settings configuration window, click on Manual to launch the IP Address configuration window which is where the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway will be manually configured.

Click on IP Address to launch the IP Address configuration window.

Enter in an ip address you would like you 360 to have, please use something like 192.168.0.xx (xx being something high like 88(this ensures it won't have the same ip as other devices in your household))

Click on Subnet Mask from the IP Settings Manual configuration window and enter the subnet mask of your local network (LAN) which is more than likely 255.255.255.0.

Click the Done button once the subnet mask has been entered.

Click on Gateway from the IP Settings main configuration window to launch the Gateway configuration window and enter the Gateway IP address or the IP of your router (which is most likely 192.168.0.1).

Click the Done button in the lower right corner to complete the entry of the Gateway IP address.

That should have given your xbox a static ip.

Now you can go back into your router and apply your portforwarding to your new static ip (192.168.0.xx).

Hope you can understand the instructions, and that it helps.
