bad lag with pro evo (xbox 360)

      hi,

i got my sky connect set up 12-13days ago and i set up xbox live a few days ago. playing call of duty is fine no lag at all, but on pro evo i'm getting terrible button lag making it unplayable. general internet browsing is fine for me as i don't tend to download or anything.

i phoned sky and they say im getting the best connection possible. the xbox is connected via ethernet to the router and router is wired straight to my main bt socket, for the time being i have disconnected the sky filter and phone to try and improve the connection but it doesn't seem to be significantly improving the connection.

      here are my stats:

      DownStream Connection Speed 6048
      UpStream Connection Speed 448
      VPI 0
      VCI 38

is there anything i can do to improve this?

      thanks in advance

Your ping time seems to be quite high, Is that from a recommended server? If not select a recommended server, if it already is the recommended server you might want to give sky a ring and tell them to reduce your ping times to 8ms for the best in game response times getting rid of your slow button reaction problems

EDIT: Post your router stats if you don't know how to do that, go here How to get your router's stats

Hmm, If thats the case then I wouldn't bother but I wouldn't just give in either.
Wait for someone more experienced to come along and answer you my knowledge is very limited at this moment in time but if you willing to give it a try you could ring sky and ask them nicely . Sky connect is the worst broadband package from sky, why? Nice speed throughout day but in evening (5pm) drop outs and significant downstream decrease also gaming with Sky connect isn't really a good idea as it can effect gaming hugely. Hope that makes sense, Im quite tired.

I should be asleep, meant to be getting up at 9am to go to London tomorrow...

EDIT: Also just noticed your jitter is very bad and that can effect a lot of things, Voice chat over the net (XboxLIVE chat)... I think.

As you're on sky connect - it's a re-branded bt product and is over-capacity and will account for the throttling during peak times. Sky can't reduce max delays, or change any line settings on connect. Do the following and reply with the results:

Connect a computer to the router via ethernet cable

start > all programs > accessories > command prompt

(if you're on vista or 7, then right click command prompt and then run as administrator)

when the cmd is open, type:

      ping bbc.co.uk

check the approx. round trip time and that will give you your true ping times.

Yeah makes sense, thanks for the help. sky connect is the only sky package i can get in my area and i was getting a great friends and family deal on tv, talk & bb which was too good to turn down. if i cant game then fair enough, but COD is fine so its frustrating that pro evo isn't.
have a safe trip to london!

Call of Duty probably works better because it tries to connect you to people with similar connection to yours so you should suffer for a bad connection, however Pro Evo sounds like it doesn't and just tries to find any random person to get you connected and playing as quickly as possible which isn't the best way to play online

User05 just above has given some more detailed information so I would do what he says, he has helped me in the past and helped me get past my stupid annoying problems.

You don't need to open CMD as administrator to ping websites... at least I don't and I use 7.
