      Wireless N adpater Issue..Instant disconnects.

      Hi,

I recently bought a wireless n adapter for my xbox and everything was easy to set up. When I sign in I get instantly disconnected. When I do the network test everything works, the connection to the network then the connection to xbox live but as soon as I sign in I get disconnected.

I've searched through various forums and can't find an answer. Ive changed all the channels for the wireless and I'm using channel 11. The green light on the dongle is constantly green so the issue doesn't seen to be with that.

Any ideas? Unfortunately going for a wired connection isn't an option and I would really like to get this working. I did have a wireless bridge that worked perfectly until the power supply died so bought this adapter to replace it.

Assuming you're using this with a compatable router.

Which frequency are you using? The 5GHz one is pretty rubbish at long distance.

have you been able to use your xbox on live before you got the n adaptor? only asking because if you havnt then your console might be banned by microsoft, explains why all the test works and you get disconnected when going to sign in.

im sure you can contact microsoft and ask them to check your console to see if it is indeed a banned machine.

Yeah I've been able to connect to xbox live without any issues before setting up the wireless 'n' router.

Not done anything wrong that would get me banned from xbox live either.

I can't help but repeat what Crisp has already stated. Buying a Wireless N adapter is useless if you're not using a Wireless N (802.11n) router. Wireless N adapter + 802.11g router = no connection to the router, thus no Xbox live.

According to the packaging and instructions it says it's also compatible with 802.11g routers.

yuo can connect your n adaptor still to your g router but it will just recieve the g signal that is being sent unless you purchase a n signal router as well

I stand corrected. I should have looked it up first. It should work with your g router, but you gain nothing. Why would you spend the extra money for a Wireless N adapter if you're using a Wireless N router? Did you just go with N so that you don't have to replace both in the future when you go with an N router? Either way, it should work.

if gaming wireless with the 360, a good signal is essential and if you've got a N router already then id 100% get the N adaptor, the N version of the adaptor is actually the same price as the g model on some sites so why not? he can take advantage of the much better signal and enjoy better gaming.
