      Weird Problems... why me?

Ok just to confirm there is nothing wrong with my connection. I have a healthy 2495kpbs downstream and 608kbps upstream. Can download files at a rate of around 260kbps (bytes), which isn't bad for a 47 attenuation line.

Video streaming is perfect, gaming is perfect, but here is something that has baffled me.

When playing Left 4 Dead using the Sky router there are no problems. When using the Netgear DG834G V4 router, there are problems! I keep getting temporary disconnects from the game server as well as 10 second lag intervals which renders the game unplayable, however my ping remains the same (100ms). I have used the DG834G V4 with L4D before and have had no problems, so why now?

This problem affects all online games that I play if I use the DG834G V4, however browsing the internet, watching videos, downloading files is absolutely fine.

I don't think it's a port forwarding issue, as I said it has worked before and why is it that the Sky router works fine with online gaming and the DG834G V4 one doesn't? It's just rediculous.

Ok, so you could say USE THE SKY ONE but I like the white router as it gives more freedom of choice and has advanced wireless settings and an increased signal range. The DG834G V4 also has the latest firmware for my location, have tried factory defaults, but no joy.

      Hmm... HELP!!!

Your router syncs sounds quite low.
      ADSL2+ Speed Test
We estimate your line is capable of between 6mb to 7mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service.

This ADSL2 Line Speed Calculator is a best guess only, as to the broadband speed that maybe possible on your telephone line. The checker provides results of up to 24mb with the data that is made available to us. This is purely for indication only and should not be classed as the Line Speed that you would receive on any ADSL or LLU product from another ISP.

Are you using wireless or not?

Also try the test socket to see if you can get that speed up a bit.

      Happy Xmas btw
