      Red Bar Gaming= Sky broadband

I posted a message about a week back and have no good answers yet. So this new thread gives people the opportunity to share their sky broadband speeds and their anger at sky as a service and as an internet provider. I think it appropriate that the sky forum should be stacked full of threads about the horrible service on the phones and the crap internet. Thats exactly what it is, say what you like.Crap!!!

No-one should have such mind boggingly rubbish speeds, welcome everyone to operation mindf--k. The lag is getting worse last time I had horrible speeds I was told people have way worse speeds. Frankly who are these people are they living underwater or in some remote valley. These speeds are crap regardless of anyones comments. Sky have a simply horrible customer service, and no regard for the speed people have to put up with daily.

I entitled this thread red bar Gaming as my family has 2 xboxs played regularly on LIVE. I also have a number of PC's.The web browsing ok but playing online isn't. I red bar consistently now. I have done pings tests before and will post all speeds below. Can anyone help with this crap internet connection. If you can please help!!!! in any way you can.

D is concerning. Most online applications will not perform well but should function in some capacity. Try testing to other servers to verify the result. You might need to contact your ISP for help.

Such a sweeping generalisation. There are a few guys on here who are cst or tier 1 who I'm sure do a good job fixing peoples' problems, so I'd avoid such generalisations if you're looking for help.

I'm going to leave my post rather blunt for the fact you're on the connect package. It's well documented on this site that it is traffic shaped during peak times and there's not much you can do but leave sky's 'horrible' customer service.

perhaps words are simply not enough to express my anger. In my opinion people need to be dealt with if you know what I mean.

Then your anger should perhaps be projected to the sales agent in sky who sold you the connect package if you were under the impression you signed up for unlimited, not the whole of sky's support.

SamKnows Broadband - Availability - Exchange Search

Enter your post code in the above. Check whether easynet/sky LLU services are available. If so, then call sky and confirm whether you are indeed on connect. If so, then get the agent on the phone to check whether there are available ports to get unlimited to get moved to.

If not, then there's not much else you can do but move to another provider who does not throttle traffic as much.

Thats your answer, assuming like means live.
Edit :- your noise margin is quite high, try a set of stats from the test socket.

If you have O2 available as an LLU provider, they are your best bet. You should be aware though that you are a long way from the exchange, which means you are never going to get a good speed. Maybe about 3 Mb if you are lucky, but whatever you get, it will not be throttled at peak times..

Well what you need to do is to educate yourself more on it if is that important to you. If you had checked first you would have known that Sky Connect is not good for most things during peak hours including gaming.

If you can get onto the O2 LLU package they will be your best bet. You will never see 20mb speeds due to the distance from the exchange but pings etc will improve. Get your MAC ang go as soon as you can!!! You may even be up and running by Christmas

ONE WORD OF WARNING!!!, Do not cancel the service, do not even mention the word cancel, you require a MAC code to transfer to another supplier because the service you currently have is unusable, do not take no for an answer, you do not need to do any tests etc, the package is at fault and nothing you or they can do will fix this.
