      Disconnections/Dropouts

      I've been having a lot of trouble with my internet over the past month, as it disconnects frequently while I'm on my 360, and sometimes will disconnect when the phone rings even though i have filters on the line. I've noticed the noise margin is usually around 7/8, but can sometimes drop below 7 and even below 6 if this helps.

      Thanks, any help appreciated.

      Post your stats from the normal position and from the test socket. Details on Stats and Test socket can be found in the Quick Links box on the left.

      Normal stats:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 20.0 db 9.5 db
      Noise Margin 7.9 db 21.0 db

      I'm not sure on the test socket, i've already got the ADSL plugged into what looks like one and it's already open, i do know that an engineer came out when I switched to Sky and did something with it because the router was constantly on standby though.

      Yes you appear to be on Connect, although your Profile says Mid. It is quite possible you are suffering from the throttling being experienced by all Connect users. See here -

      It is also possible you have a fault on your line. Your low noise margin compared to your attenuation/speed seems to indicate something is wrong. Do you hear any extraneous noise on the line when you are making a phone call?

      Sorry, I am on connect. I haven't noticed any noise either.

      When are the dropouts occurring, all the time or between 5 and 12?

      Can you do an official speedtest around now and about 7PM. Using the BT tester from here-
      Test Result

      They occur all the time, but very frequently between 5 and 12.

      Download speedachieved during the test was - 3392 Kbps
      For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
      Additional Information:
      Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
      IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps

      Are you using wireless? Your download now should be near 7000kbps.
