      I just rang them and they seem to think the problem is because I'm on an extension cable, so they want me to go wireless, could this be the problem?

      Not in your situation, you are on Sky Connect and it is useless.

      I understood from your previous replies you were plugged directly into the Test socket. If this is not the case, there is every possibility that your extension is causing the drop outs and the lowish noise margin.
