      Playstation Network is going sloowww

Ive had my ps3 for over 2 years now, when i got it i had 8mb broadband with bulldog broadband but then shortly after i got sky broadband. From the start ive always bee able to download from PSN at around 1mb/s so that a 100mb game would take little over 100secs to download, but recently its been talking about 5 secs or more for every 1mb which takes ages to download a 1gb game. Is this happening for anybody else, i remember reading something a while ago that sky was throttling PSN speeds, are they still doing this?
what can i do to make it go faster?

Sky do not throttle LLU connections, only Connect. It is possible your line is undergoing DLM training. Post the stats from your router.

If you are on Unlimited there is no throttling or traffic shaping what so ever. Never has been.
It may well be the PSN its self!
Lots of reason why this could be.

this is what i was reffering to when i said they were throttling PSN but looks like i was wrong, it was just a mistake where sky was blockingpsn at certain times - Link

Maybe Sony need to upgrade their servers to take the load properly? For your attenuation your speed is not that good, how are you connected to the telephone line and what else is on there?
How long have you been on Sky BB?

Re: Playstation Network is going sloowww

The Link you gave refers to the Connect network, the LLU, which you are on, has never been blocked.

It does not look like your line has been through DLM yet. In your own interests you should make sure your internal wiring is as good as possible before it starts. A good start would be to plug into the Test socket, link below, and post your stats from there. You should get nearly 20 Mb with your attenuation, but there is noise present on your line preventing it.

I am inclined to agree with Paul that the PSN servers are likely to blame for the slow download. When anything new is released their servers get a hammering.
