Will the line stabilisation process increase pings?

      Hello,
does anyone know if the line stabilisation process will increase pings? About a year ago Sky reduced my max delay and my pings fell from 80ms to 25ms. I only get about 4.5 meg speeds due to being a ways from the exchange. Seems like I wont get any more speed but I will have my usage allowance cut by 75%.
      Thanks
      Gary

      No it shouldn't.

Re: Will the line stabilisation process increase pings?

Looks like they have done my 'upgrade' to 'up to 10meg':
      Pre upgrade:
      Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 5120 kbps (actual download was 4.5meg)
      UpStream Connection Speed 416 kbps
      VPI 0
      VCI 38
Pings to Jolt were 25 milliseconds.
      Post upgrade:
      Modem Status Connected
DownStream Connection Speed 4594 kbps (actual download is now 3.9meg)
      UpStream Connection Speed 606 kbps
      VPI 0
      VCI 38
Pings to Jolt are now 41 milliseconds.
So in summary, slower dowloads, higher latency, and a slight increase in upload. Nice eh?

Yes, the move to ADSL2+ does not suit all lines. However if you can post your stats from the Show Statistics button, we will be able to tell if you can get a bit more. They should be able to adjust your delay again, but I did think that the delay was set low by ADSL2+.

Re: Will the line stabilisation process increase pings?

      Here are my stats:
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4594 kbps 606 kbps
Line Attenuation 47.5 db 30.5 db
Noise Margin 8.3 db 11.5 db
My connection was always rock solid so its a bit annoying to have a speed reduction, at least they have not cut my dowload allowance, no wait.....
I'll leave it for a week or so before emailing Sky about the delay, perhaps they have not finished with my line just yet.
