High pings and question about max delay

Hi, I've been looking around these forums and has helped me a lot! - Get ready to read...

First of all, when I am playing Call of Duty world at war on my ps3, I frequently get disconnected, even when everyone else has good connection.

I saw this thread on the forums and I was curious to what it means?
If you have poor pings on Sky Broadband
Would this make my ping lower?

I pinged a couple of websites and i usually get around 90-110ms on average. 170-200 in peak hours.

Is this bad? People that live around me don't have bad connection so I assumed it must be Sky. This has only been happening in the last 2 months. I've tried resetting (not rebooting) my router. I turn it off at night so I don't know if that's affected my connection.

I was going to call Sky and ask them, but I'm not sure what to ask them . I also torrent stuff occasionally; would they talk to me about that?

Thanks - Any more info you need just ask

Re: High pings and question about max delay

All you need do is phone sky and ask to be put through to CST, best time to do so would be around 10.30pm will give you the best chance of getting through and ask them to lower your max delays to 8, this process will lower your connection speed abit from what it is now.

Could you also post your currect connection stats from where ever you are connected and also from the test socket if you don't use the master socket and use an extension instead.

      Hope this helps you.

Could you post the full stats from the routers stat page.

If your not sure how to do that, type 192.168.0.1 into address bar then, router user name is "admin" and the password is "sky" then click on show stats button at the bottom of the screen, which shows your connection speed, attenuation and noise margin.

Re: High pings and question about max delay

lowering your max delays may also make your line more unstable and it seems you have a problem with disconnections on the PS3 anyways and lowering the delays may not change that problem.

Re: High pings and question about max delay

yea as everyone else is saying get through to the CST team and advised them to put your max delays down 8...

if you call up and u will have to go through the first tier of support and they dont no what that means.. dont let them fog u off if it takes it demand to be put through to CST

Can you take your stats from the Test socket for comparison, link below.

Re: High pings and question about max delay

      I can't believe what's just happened!

The speed has gone up by 1mb!!! - Although my plug is about 10 metres away from the test socket and there's wires everywhere :P
The pings stay around 90-100 again. I'm going to see the difference on ps3 :P

edit: the pings are all over the place - First 90ms, then 300ms, 350ms, 250ms....

Are you using a wireless connection, if so this will be the problem, try connecting the PS3 via an ethernet cable or homeplugs, that will sort it.
