Would I need to replace the phone socket that I normally use? (since I get half my internet speed)

      I can't believe what's just happened!

You are not the first one to find that their home wiring was causing problems. That is why it is always recommended before you complain to Sky.

Now you can phone Sky and ask politely to be put through to CST to have your delay reduced.. Don't 'demand' or all you may hear is a click, as the agent hangs the phone up.

Replace the faceplate of your master socket with one of these and plug your router directly into it. This will isolate your internal wiring from the ADSL signal and will solve most of your problems.

I can't plug my router directly into the master socket because of where it is. Will replacing the master socket fix the rest of the sockets?

Not unless you are plugged into it! Fitting a filtered faceplate, under normal circumstances, renders the other sockets useless for ADSL, as the ADSL signal is filtered out.

If you cannot place the router beside the master socket you can use a longer RJ11 cable to connect it.

Re: High pings and question about max delay

I just have a few extra questions about this:

Will reducing my max delays to 8 reduce my speed of internet and how much?
Can I do this through e-mail?
How can I fix all of my phone sockets so they work the same speed as my master socket, but without fitting a filtered master faceplate?

      Thanks! I'll phone/email them later...

Sometimes they may reduce the speed to keep the connection stable when they remove the max delays, it depends on your line as to if and how much.

You can fill out the KANA form on the Sky website but if you want to have a little more input on how it is done I would ring CST.

You cannot really, you may get it close depending on the quality of the wire used etc but the more wires and sockets you are running the more chance of interference.
