It is the Test socket speeds that are required as this will show if your internal wiring is causing a problem, which it probably is. Click the Test socket link below for more information.

If it's only lag you are having problems with then it doesn't really matter what speeds you get, other connections will always cause you trouble.

Re: From 2mb dl to 335kb?

I think the main problem is the pathetic sync speed of 384kbps, it should be 10 times this. It is not even really true broadband. Getting the delay reduced may help gaming, but as soon as someone else logs on and splits the bandwidth, it will be reduced to almost dial up speed.

Dad is going to have to listen, he is paying too much for what he is getting.

Isitme, I don't disagree but even if he were getting 16mb speeds, sharing a connection with a couple of other PC's will always affect gaming.

You are correct though, his speed is very poor and he should be getting more for the money

Re: From 2mb dl to 335kb?

I know this is a lot to ask, but can someone please basically right out all the information? So I can let my Dad read it and convince him to go with your recommended course of action? It would be greatly appreciated. Him and I have never really got on, he's unlikely to listen to me, but he may do from other people. Please write to an idiot
