Are you connected via wireless, if so this will be the issue.

Try an ethernet lead or get a couple of homeplugs, sorted me out immediately and I have never had a problem since.

Same thing used to happen to me. When used to host on Gears 2 everyone used to lag even with my connection:

      ADSL Line State: Showtime
      Downstream: 16380 Kbps
      Upstream: 800 Kbps
      Mode: ADSL2PlusAuto
      Transmit Power: 8.4 dB
ADSL Link UP Time: 3 day 18 hour 36 min 50 sec
      Operational Mode: ADSL2+
      Item Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin 11.20 dB 16.0 dB
Line Attenuation 20.5 dB 6.0 dB
      CRC Errors 0 0
      FEC Errors 0 0
      HEC Errors 0 0

My first thought was the router so i brought a ZOOM X6 router. Now when i host on Gears 2 no one seems to lag even people from america and spain .its the best router ive had. Its designed for gaming online. Dont know if u wanna shell out the cash for one but there around 40 pound now and maybe less if you look.

Wouldn't think so we have a 15m cable from router to Xbox and the kids not complained about lag at all.

It's nothing to do with your router buddy.
Gears 2 has the worst matchmaking in any game. It's really poor as it puts you in games with people from America and japan, And gives the person with the worst connection Host most of the times.

If you go on Gears 1 you will see just how much better it is when you can pick where you play lol.

Make sure your Nat settings are Open aswell so you find better connections.
As for wireless, I use the wireless adaptor and I have no problems playing on Xbox live.

It worked for me i had nat open, used DMZ with my old router and still laggy. switched to the ZOOM and no more lag. Sometimes i switch back to the netgear and starts lagging again, switch back to the ZOOM and fine,.

Well you will get lag regardless of what router your using.
If the host of the game is in Japan,Australia then you are going to lag.

So far while playing Gears 2 my internet has visited Singapore,Taiwan,Australia,America (Most states) lol
After TU3 for Gears I have hardly came across UK guys on Gears 2.

Might just be me and my dodgy internet lol.

Anyway does the Zoom x6 have a RJ-11 port or is it RJ-45 Connection? as I might pick one up but I have to connect using RJ-11, From the BT phone socket.
