      gaming cut-off 5:25pm

Every 5:25 for the past couple of months now the psn kicks me out and I can't get back on till around midnight.

Now I know there's a thread about the speed throttling, but 96 pages of people with their speeds and no info of anything being done about it by sky.

They only appear to have started enforcing their T&C's now even though my net is barely used during peak hours, It does get alot of use during off-peak, but according to them that shouldn't affect my speeds!

tbh, the speeds during peak are fairly normal, the only problem i have is that i'm being kicked off the PS network, that's all they appear to be doing, and that's different to the other thread which is why i've started this.

      anyone else experience this?
      what should i do?

      Re: gaming cut-off 5:25pm

just after I posted that I managed to get on the psn for all of 5 minutes.
Now i''m experiencing really slow browsing and d/l speeds!.
It's gone from 4/5mbps to 287kbps, I have a faster upload speed, takes minutes to open a web page on certain sites, how can Sky get away with this?

      might wanna read this thread...

Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?

EDIT: see you've found the thread...lol

Sky aren't going to do anything, they've not enforced the Usage policy at ALL on Connect until now as they have to...during off-peak the connections'll be fine but during peak hours they will traffic shape...

if you NEED to game, then probably best look for an alternate ISP...

Even if it is, Connect is no good for gaming, move on to a btter ISP.

      Try:- Plusnet, IDnet or Zen

      Re: gaming cut-off 5:25pm

      I came from plusnet.

would a provider who have an LLU at my exchange be better for gaming?!
I've just found out a couple of isp's have LLU's at my exchange, tiscali, cpw, orange........

I've had no problems gaming, even during peak times for the past 12 months, just now it's being a pain, worst i had was bad connection during games if i was d/ling on the pc.

I personally wouldn't choose one of those without doing a fair bit of reasearch first and I would never choose Tiscali.

Have a look at Thinkbroadband.com, go onto the relevant forum for the ISP's you are thinking of and ask the question, they are a good bunch, nearly as good as here
