New user so be gentle, Broadband connect and currently connecting through ethernet.
I play secondlife daily, well I try to... connection through sky router is awful and lags terribly or wont connect at all, not only at peak times, almost all day now. in the last few days it has been logging me out on 100% of teleport, hence, no point in gaming if I cannot move...I saw on a forum this as a possible solution,
"First, in the Preferences of Second Life, under Network section, there is an option Custom Port Connection. I enabled this and left the Port Number to the default value of 13000. Then under my router's settings, I allowed connections to port number 13000 and forwarded it to the local IP address of my computer"
secondlife part was no problem in adjusting but I really have no clue about the other part (router settings etc) and i do not want to "break" anything, can anyone advise me please? would be much appreciated and I may, just may, be able to keep my sanity.

Re: Please help:
Chelle some info on port forwarding can be found here Instructions for adding a firewall rule to the Sky Router Netgear DG834GT
As Steve has said there is some throttling going on by sky for users on the connect package so you may experience some slow connection speeds at peak times(5.00pm to midnight weekday, it usually starts a bit earlier on weekends)
