Your getting throttled, I am in the same situation. If you go over to another ISP who uses the BT equipment you are going to get the same.

Did you use the netmonitor? when you are throttled did you look at previous days usage ?

Load of poo and typical "we know nothing" response from BT, BT connect is traffic shaped in the evening and no ammount of BS from them will hide that fact.
BT told you this load of rubbish in case they could talk your into going with them..... on their traffic shaped connection. Who are you going with as a new ISP?

Exact same problem..during online gaming, pings shoot up to around 500-1000 and i disconnect in areas with more than 10 people. Phoned sky but been hung up about 4 times. Its nothing to do with my area etc as I was originally with ADSL24 a month ago and it was fine.

      Customer service is appalling.

It's not the same problem, they are on BT's system (connect) which is throttled during peak hours, you are on Sky's (max LLU) which isn't.

Yes I have been monitoring my usage and Monday I use 65.7mg down and 15.6 up, yet Tuesday it was still terrible as the case has been for some time.
My Monthly total so far this month is under 3gb.

Not sure on what ISP to go for PaulSky as I'm limited on LLU operators at my echange, theres only Orange, Bulldog and Talk Talk

      Greetings,

Give Welcome to Demon.net a try... there's a checker on their site which will tell you if you can get ADSL from them.

I've been with them since 2003 on ADSL (apart from a little hickup last year but was only away a couple of weeks) and according to the samknows site they are not listed on my exchange (unless they are going under another name). The list I get shows some providers only enabling service a couple of years ago...

Seriously would not touch Bulldog with a barge pole. With a limited choice like that you may want to see if any of your mates nearby are with either provider and if so how is it going for them.

Well it sounds similar, Peak times with online gaming is impossible for me and I know alot of others suffering from the same problem with Sky.

      re: Lagging at peak times

If you speak to enough people you will find similar problems with all ISP's that does not mean that it is their fault, many things effect lag.

Sharing a connection, downloading updates while playing, congested exchanges, poor host servers, wireless connections to name a few.

Sky Max is very unrestricted as ISP's go, they seem to have plenty of spare capacity and I can max out my line whenever I choose to at 16Mb. I suspect your problem is less to do with Sky and more something else.

Sky Connect on the otherhand relys on BT's network and can be problematic at peak times, this is more to do with BT as they have control over this.
