as said, i have tried wireless and wired. the problem is exactly the same with both.

i saw a thread from another couple of people in manchester complaining about sudden unexplained speed issues so i do not believe its just me.

i will persist with trying different bits and pieces though and see how it goes.

Re: Slow d/l speed / high latency...please help!

spoke to sky again last night, as my connection seemed fine, then it hit 21.00 and i went from speed test results of 6.5mbps to 0.2mbps.

spent 90mins on the phone, waiting for a call back from some people who can do more tests on the line.

      frustrating.

Re: Slow d/l speed / high latency...please help!

have had a txt msg from sky saying they have reconfigured my line and all should be fine now.

i spoke to third tier after getting this and they say they have done some fiddling, think they solved my problem and also got me upto 10mbps rather than the 8 i was on.

hopefully it will be more stable, i asked if the problems were due to DLM and they said no, so no idea what the problem was.

Leave your router plugged in for a week or two, looking at your stats from your first post to your last, your attenuation has risen from 29 to 33.5. This apparently would suggest that your line has been switched from GDMT to ASDL2+, and may also suggest that your line is undergoing DLM.
Of course, I may be completely wrong, in which case I apologize.

tonights stats and again it is slow.

i will leave it for 2 weeks and hope it settles down. was debating ringing back tomorrow to speak to tier 3 and see what the problem is, but will leave it and try be patient. is just very frustrating when i've never had a problem until this began on the 5th

Re: Slow d/l speed / high latency...please help!

well, i spoke to another 3rd line person who says he found errors on the line and they should clear (and he also says he upgraded my line speed again), my stats are now

      System Up Time 62:09:52
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 230177 335399 0 276 4096 24:28:07

      WLAN 11M/54M 653509 456105 0 2975 306 62:09:42

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9089 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 33.5 db 20.0 db
Noise Margin 7.4 db 14.0 db

and im still having problems with speed (approx 24 hours later).

im seriously getting peeved because 3rd line say i am definitely not the subject of DLM

whilst the router says 9meg, im doing a speed test on here and getting .6meg (with nothing else running).
