Unofficial - SKy in future to offer FASTPATH

Guy on other side of the phone on CST said Sky have been looking into the community of gamers, and MIGHT be offering FASTPATH in the future, he said 'Sky have been looking into putting gamers onto FASTPATH in the next few years.' So nothing in the near future, but something to look forward to. Maybe if more people showed interest? Maybe drop your name here?

      Ok pings. (24/05/08)

Mmmmm, we will see, what people will have to understand and accept if this happens is :-
Interleaving is used for a reason, error reduction, and reducing the levels ( max delays ) will mean in most cases error levels will rise as you have discovered in your other post. Reducing max delays to 0 which is effectively fastpath will increase errors further, especially with an adsl2+ connection as this is more susceptible to errors due to the higher frequencies it uses.
Therefore to eliminate these errors the line would need to be capped, ie Nm raised which forces the connection to use lower frequencies.
In summary people who want fastpath, if offered in the future, will most likely have to accept the fact that their sync speed will be significantly lower.
This may well be acceptable to some, but not the "ive got the fastest car, biggest lcd tv etc, etc" brigade.

You wont be on fastpath, no one on sky is, it may say that in the router stats but its a bug.

Yes, but his previous thread where he posted his stats shows that he is interleaved
How can I minimise line errors and packet loss?

Doh - sorry mixing people up, damn double barreled names, ignore me devil.
IANTE - yep I was on fastpath for 6 months on connect before moving to max.

ummm - no one has leaked this to us.

I think Sky should offer this, and to a degree, charge for it. Most ISP's are now charging for a premium connection for Gamers nowadays, less traffic management etc. However the consequences of this is a higher BB rental.

I also think that Sky should offer a static IP option, again at a nominal charge.

Then Sky BB would be perfect.

I'm with Be at the moment on fastpath and it didn't really reduce my sync much. I think I was about 17meg on interleaved and 15meg fastpath. 2meg when you're getting a ridiculous amount doesn't really make much difference, but getting a 5ping in TF2 is nice ;P
