Connection Drops during Peak Time Gaming

This is a discussion on Connection Drops during Peak Time Gaming within the Gaming on Sky forums, part of the Sky Broadband help category; I'm going through the different Channels, and I'm still getting intermittant ADSL drops....

Re: Connection Drops during Peak Time Gaming

I'm at my wits end with this.

They say they'll lower my Max Delays, and Stabilise my line, but if that has happened (and I'm not sure how I can check that), I'm still disconnecting several times a night during peak hours usage.

I switched to Sky because I thought the package looked attractive to take on my TV, phone and Broadband in one manageable monthly payment. But it seems I've been locked into using a proprietary router, with disconnection problems that seems common among Sky users.

What can I do, to attempt to eliminate these disconnections? With the noise figures quoted is my only option to purchase esoteric phone socket faceplates from eBay?

If there was an emote for on your hands and knees begging for some consistant help, then I'd use it.

not all but most have been sorted once internal wiring has been fixed (that i have seen)

cabling and faceplate forum will give you most of the info you need

Re: Connection Drops during Peak Time Gaming

Well, I ranted at Sky a bit, asking them to do several things, check line, regrade the speed again, down to 2Mb if needed, lower my max delays, and if necessary send me a replacement router.

They capped my connection speed at 3Mb (rather than the 3.5Mb I was originally getting from it) and the line has been fairly stable now. Only two disconnects in about 6 or 7 days. So for now, my gaming life is good again.

Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.

Fingers crossed the connection stability holds..
