As above you don't need the dongle.
MAC's are for when you are transferring from one ISP to another, you need to get your Wii to discover your wireless network, and enter the network key (it is case sensitive) that are printed on a card and also on the bottom of your router.
If the Wii is your only wireless device, I.E you have not had it working before, then it may be necessary to change the wireless channel on your router.

I do need a dongle atm as it's the only way I can get online with the Wii as my wired connection is working!
I got one because i used to have orange BB the old 1 with no wifi.

The wii was fine then all of a sudden stopped connecting!

theres also a laptop we want to connect but that has stopped connecting too now! it connected twice yesterday and today... nothing!

theres like 4-5 other ppl on sky i can pick up on the laptop tho so i dont know if this has anything to do with it and i've re-entered and re-entered the network key more times than i care to remember lol!

it's just like the wireless is dead!

i've tried turning off our cordless phone too but nothing makes any difference

Is the wireless indicator on, on the router?
Maybe you are getting interference from neighbouring networks, try changing the wireless channel on the router.

I may be missing something here but are you saying the dongle is attached to the Wii?

If it is then i can tell you you do not need it, my Wii is connected to my wireless modem/router with no dongle.

I think you connect the Wii dongle to a PC with a wired internet connection.
This is for when people dont have a wireless router.

      as penrhyn said

the dongle is plugged into my pc, i had orange bb without wireless up till thursday so have always connected my wii with that (except at my boyfriend's house because he has wireless and the wii picks that up fine... he's on virgin btw)

its just if you don't have wireless you can turn a wired connection into wireless through your pc to connect your ds and wii (helpful with the whole wpa wep issue with ds's aswell!)

the only reason im currently using the dongle is because wifi aint working so i cant connect through the sky router... hence the dongle...

the wireless indicator is on but its not flashing or anything... like it was yesterday when i was connecting to it. it's just solid green!

i've tried changing the channels, i tried 1 and 11 because that was reccommended for the wii. should i try all the other ones?

when I select a channel should I reboot because it doesnt seem to reboot itself? it just kinda saves the channel i pick?

also will this affect connecting the laptop (not that i can connect it anymore anyway lol)
