      Xbox live - 2 xbox consoles.

      Hello everyone, new member here.

      I'm thinking of switching over to sky broadband 16mb unlimited. One of the most important uses will be gaming.
      Looking through the posts there seems to be a bit of a mixed opinion about the connection quality.
      I currently have a BT connection which rarely drops and is quite a good connection most of the time. Should switch over to Sky?

      Another thing, my brother and I both have an Xbox and will want to play at the same time. Does the Netgear router facilitate this? Or would I have to get a new router? Most of the time we are able to play on the Homehub with ports open on both.

      Thanks for the help

      You won't both get a NAT status of Open with the Netgear router. If it's the white router (V1) then you could extract your username and password to use in a compatible router, however, you will be breaking the T & C's by doing this.

      Surely if you simply forward the required ports on the Sky router it will report Open. Well I'll know come Tuesday but I believe I've setup the port forward correctly.

      majorbriggs, I guess you could enable uPnP on the sky router which is disabled by default. This should allow both consoles to report open NAT but as I only have one 360 myself I can't test this.

      Re: Xbox live - 2 xbox consoles.

      Thanks guys. I'll have to give it a try I guess, if all else fails I can buy another router. I didn't know this would break the T&C's though, surely its just a broadband connection the same as any other?

      Anyway, if anyone else is interested, I got the following from xboxlivetheguide.co.uk, its a list of routers capable of supporting two xboxes:

      ADSL Customers

      There are no ADSL routers certified for use with more than one xbox by Microsoft.

      But after obtaining feedback from the live community in the UK, the following routers have been found to enable two xboxes to join the same game and chat with no problems.

      * D-link DSL-2640B (firmware 3.06)
      * Belkin F5D7633uk4A (firmware 1.00.17) - Ensure you enable UPnP, details for Belkin here
      * Belkin F5D9630-4 (firmware 1.00.04) - Ensure you enable UPnP, details for Belkin here
      * BT HomeHub (firmware 6.2.6.E) - BT ISP's only
      * Zyxel 600 HW T1
      * Sitecom WL-174 (Firmware 2.9.5.0 - 3.5.18.9)

      I have personally tested the DSL-2640B, F5D7633uk4A and the BT Homehub, all result in a NAT of Open with two Xboxes connected.

      Out of the above I would recommend the Dlink DSL-2640B above any other.

      You can also use a cable broadbanr router, which is another option, to do this you will need an ethernet ADSL modem, I can recommend this combination which certainly works:-

      D-Link DSL-320T Ethernet ADSL2/2+ (Ethernet modem) connected to a D-Link DI-634M Router running (v2.01 firmware)

      The above solution works because the DI-634M Router is certified for more than one Xbox by Microsoft if you use the v2.01 firmware.

      The DSL-320T is simply providing the interface to ADSL. ADSL Modems with Ethernet interfaces (as opposed to USB) are quite rare in the UK.

      I can vouch for the dsl-2640B.

      Works like a charm.

      The standard netgear from sky will NOT support two xboxes on live.

      I have the standard Netgear router from Sky and use two Xbox 360s with no problems.

      If you mean the standard white Netgear V1 router, could you kindly explain exactly how you have everything setup (static ip's, port forwarding etc), and confirm that both can be online at the same time with both reporting a NAT status of Open?
      It's just that nobody has seemed to manage it before so any info would be very much appreciated.

      i also have the dlink dsl-2640b and its great, never had to reboot it once and ive now got 4 xboxs running wirelessly off it lol they all report open NATs by the way, no matter what router you get be sure to set your xbox to obtain an address automatically otherwise it wont set the port forwardings correctly.

      I think you misread the earlier post, the guy was claiming to have TWO xboxs running with no problems.
