max delays and caps-if it aint broke....

10 days or so i sent an email to tech support to lower my pings .this worked as they went from 65 to 30 ...nice
the only problem was they capped me from 7mbps to 6.1 mbps .
i since then installed an adsl nation face plate and removed an extention
my question is this .will changing the wiring as above remove the intabillities
from the line so they can uncap me

      stats-down/up
      6144kb/416kb
      att-42/12
noise margin -4db at night- 12 in morning

It may have but if you're seeing a noise margin swing of 8db through the day, that would suggest you still have problems (a 3-4db swing would be normal).

Interleaving is a very powerful method to reduce corruption of transmitted data due to line noise. It would appear that Sky feel your connection wasn't (and possibly still isn't) able to cope at 7mb with lower interleave settings so they capped the line a little to boost the noise margin. If it is still dropping to 4db even with your new wiring then to be honest that's too low and you probably need to be capped a little more.

Sky will cap the line when lowering delays as it can lead to an unstable line...

IF you've got lower pings and a stable line whats the issue?...

well as they say if it aint broke dont fix it. but theres nothing wrong with trying to get the most out of your connection.

well i had already sent an email to support to uncap my connection.
the result ,amazingly was a mess
4.4mbps down and 340 kbps up ---and the ping back to previous levels

so got them to return to to previous settings
      ok for now

      guess ill leave it
