      upnp disabled and xbox live

i'm a noob so be gentle.

I have had sky broad band for about a year, after weeks of disconnection issues, i found this site and managed (with no help from sky!) to get to working by disabling upnp.

Now christmas has come and gone I have got myself a shiney new xbox 360 and want to use xbox live.

Now I understand with upnp disabled its not as simple as just plugging it in!

What are my options?? Is the new router i hear about better - will it work with upnp enabled? should i be badgering sky for one?

I have read the posts and there is lots of info about port forwarding and stuff I dont understand very well - can someone point me in the direction of an idiots guide to getting this up and running?

      Thanks in adveance - G

Static ip and DMZ will sort it for you, here's how to do it.
      1) Go to System blade of your xbox dashboard.
      2) Select Network Settings and press A.
      3) Select Edit Settings and press A.
      4) Write down the numbers for ip address, subnet mask and gateway.
      5) Press A and choose Manual.
      6) Now enter those numbers you just copied down in the respective fields.

Thats your Static IP done so onto DMZ.

      1) On your PC browser enter 192.168.0.1
      2) Username is admin and password is sky.
      3) Click on WAN Setup. (left hand side, 3/4 way down).
      4) Tick box that says Default DMZ Server and enter the IP address you gave your xbox.
      5) Click apply and you're all done.

It's a problem with Xbox Live, they massively underestimated the additional demand and new subscribers over the festive season so Live is crashing every night at the moment. Expect it to go back to normal within a week or so.
If you can try connecting between 9am and 5.30pm, if this then works then that will confirm what I've just told you. If not post back.
