      Hi Duff,

Sounds like you are have the same problem that i had for a few months

I tried everything from replacing the face plate

      line tests by SKY

      line tests by BT

All came back as ok! but still had this dodgy 'swinging' connection

Is your NR dropping off when you start to get unstable? keep a watchful eye on it>>

I would also try flashing the firmware to netgears generic rather than skys netgear mashup which sux bottom<>!

Give that a try and let me know how it goes

      HI ISO

This is such a regular problem it's amazing that SKY seem to be doing nothing about it!
I'm going to try flashing the Netgear firmware, let's see how that goes.

      Have you tried it??

Re: I keep having to restart my router.

Hi yes i have tried it and it did seem to work , for the first 8 hours anyway solid

but then oh noo here we go again!!!

      it started doing the same

I then spoke to one of the tier three supports and they told me that my line was only capable of supporting a 4mb connection and the fact that i was connecting in at 5024kbps was fine until lots of errors started arriving, the ro9uter then trips up on itself and has to re-connect

this sounded plausible to me so i let them cap me at a lower speed and tested to see if this made a diff

so far i am still having trouble although i am connecting at 4603 which is above the recommended 4008 sky say

im just about to ring them and get it lowered again to 4008 and test that. i hope it will work although i am fast running out of bandwidth and soon i might as well just be using a modem <>

ill post back when i have some testing done

could be the answer to a few issues for people

just looks like they are way over selling the product and letting us test it for them !

      Hi ISO

I've actually had some success with SKY!
Having tried all the various fixes and such like, with no luck, I rang SKY at 1:45 am and got straight through to tier 3

It seems my exchange cannot handle the ful MAX speed and I've been capped at 7mb, since then it's been 99% fine. had one drop out this morning, but it's now been running for 9 hours straight.
I am stil running with the SKY firmware too.

      Hi Andy,

Yeah it looks like i am in the same boat

I phoned sky last night too and they explained that my line could not take more than 4000 even though i was connected at 5024 which was just making it unstable

i have dropped it down to 4008 and of course the errors have dropped

still a bit upset because with a line attenuation like mine (50db) and seeing that i am 2.49 km as the crow flies i would have expected more

maybe in the future when bt and sky sort the equipment out

nothing to do with Sky, seeing as they run off BT's line.....it's all down to when BT decide to upgrade the Network

Re: I keep having to restart my router.

      I second that!!

Infact i think im gonna go give BT a call and say i hear noises on the line and get an engineer out

try and squeeze a bit more out of them

who knows maybe they will replace some of the line?
