Thumbs down Another User Not Coming To Sky

I was looking at Sky broadband, because I enjoy d/l and gaming, I am currently on ADSL MAX 8128/448 and get top performance and with my line stats thought it would be nice to try an LLU but there are hardly any to choose from that are enabled here, so I was forced to look at Sky, somthing I did not want to do due to the abismal reputaion they have. I play games where ping is important, after reading that sky will not turn off interleave, I will be staying where I am, and this is why..

Fact is big money making companies like Sky don't have the inclination or need to taylor for the smaller groups, they do not need gamers to choose sky, because many are young and are stuck on sky against there will anyway, Sky do not need to change in my opinion, congrats to Sky for being in such a position and providing something other isp's cant do so well, cheap, individual broadband inclusive TV packages.

You get what you pay for, Sky, catering for the mainstream casual user, some d/l, emails and surfing.

Am I missing something, 13-14ms? That seems great for me, I'm getting 32ms right now ... if you look around the forum, you can find advice on lower pings ... ask Tier 3 to turn MAX_DELAY down, can't remember the correct figure though.

I still think Sky should offer a Gamers Broadband connection, say at an extra 50p a month, just for changing an option on the profile they assign to customers. It would be a killer!

if they do offer a gaming service it should be the same as other providers and be an Extra 5 for fastpath imo

Re: Another User Not Coming To Sky

The 5.00 that others charge is normally a one off payment.

Hence the 50p a mth. 6.00 per year - money for one typing change on the profile. Multiply that by the number of people it will attract. I would do it for them at 50p per person per month, I would be a millionaire

Re: Another User Not Coming To Sky

nr you know i agree entirely, however i think what the problem is is that fastpath would not be viable on certain lines, maybe sky are scared of offering it to some and then creating a rift with the others who cant have it. as i said i am all for it because i know it would work for me. i think sky would have to think carefully about how they worded the description of a gaming service, ie "we can offer you a gaming service if your line conditions meet xyz parameters and if so it could reduce abc. if this was acceptable it would cost 5 to change and if you were unhappy 5 to put back"

Thumbs up Re: Another User Not Coming To Sky

      Charge? for fast path?

      lol

On my ISP we just ask on the forum or raise a ticket, and its done in no time, any problems? they turn it back on for you.

But hell if you ar eon Sky I am sure a small payment would be the last of your worries if gaming is your thing, but as I said I see no reason for Sky to bother with you, how does it benefit them? all the little angry peckers who are shouting at Mommy and Daddy about there games lol I am sure Sky are really concerned!
