New password generation web page
As James' password generator (https://www.cm9.net/skypass/) is down at the moment, I have uploaded a generator for the Sagem F@ST and Netgear routers to Sky Broadband Password Calculator - pH-Mb.

Re: New password generation web page
We know that you don't want to use your own router, since you have posted as much on several previous occasions.
However, judging by the large number of posts over the past week, I would strongly suggest that there is a large number of people who DO want to use their own routers.
On the whole though, I would suspect that the majority of Sky broadband subscribers use the Sky router.

Re: New password generation web page
just out of curiosity what's the advantages and disadvantages to using non sky routers. I mean surely you wont get a speed boost much.

Re: New password generation web page
Personally I find the sky supplied router (with a few modifications) good enough but some people require extra features (VPN compatibility, quality of service etc.) which are not available. Some routers may work a bit better on noisy lines too giving a better connection speed.
Another good reason is the ability to have a backup if something goes wrong with Sky's router, being without internet for a week while waiting for a new one to be sent out is not too fun!

Re: New password generation web page
hum I guess so yea see ya point there like but there's a risk to I mean if your sky router goes wrong and you replace it with a non sky router they could ring up and ask why its changed.

Re: New password generation web page
That's always a possibility, but there have been no reports of Sky ever doing this (and a fair few people use their own routers). I guess at the end of the day, Sky would loose a lot of money if they cancelled people's subscriptions for using 3rd party routers so they do not really have any incentive to do so.
The clause in the terms and conditions is probably there just to stop technical support calls from people using routers other than Sky's (which they would not be trained to handle).

Re: New password generation web page
yea could be i think i read somewhere that it was just support terms for sky routers only so they don't support non sky ones
