Did you disable the in-built windows firewall/third party firewall?

Re: Sky D-Link DSL-2640S Router How To Get Your Username & Password

I've found a bug, thanks to a helpful comment on my blog - if you've got more than one network adaptor, it is liable to use the wrong one.

For the time being, as a quick hack, I'm going to make the Local Address editable, so you can at least manually correct it if it shows the wrong IP address.

Ok, I've made a few modifications and updated the link in my blog, it now tries to enumerate the network adaptors and may pick the right one - the coding is a bit iffy. You can still edit the local address if/when it gets it wrong.

Re: Sky D-Link DSL-2640S Router How To Get Your Username & Password

      Hi Guys,

huge thanks for the work you have put into this.

I have this D-Link Router and desperately want to use my own router again.

I have downloaded the jar file onto my Mac. I am assuming that it should work fine.

However, when I run it, the ADSL Stats part works fine but when trying the Get ADSL Password button, I get the following message:

      Extracting ADSL password, please wait...

      Server failed to start
      java.net.SocketException: Permission denied

Any idea why? I have tried it while logged in via the UI and logged out just in case and it doesn't seem to make a difference. It is also coming back immediately so doesn't seem to be the firewall issue to me.

      Many thanks
      Mark

I don't know what changed in the 1.3 version to solve this (as I do not have 2 network adapters) but the tool now worked Thank you so much for your work on this

You right, that's not the firewall issue. My program creates a mini server as an easy way to transfer the program I wrote to recover the password onto the router. A little googling, suggests that the Mac's OS restricts the use of ports below 1024 to administrator use.

Try changing the "Local Port" setting in my program to a higher number (eg 8888) and also check the "Local address" is the correct local IP address for your Mac.

If it still doesn't work, I'll try to create a modified version to narrow down the issue, so I can try to find a fix, I wouldn't want Mac users to feel left out
