Try changing the "Local Port" setting in my program to a higher number (eg 8888) and also check the "Local address" is the correct local IP address for your Mac.

If it still doesn't work, I'll try to create a modified version to narrow down the issue, so I can try to find a fix, I wouldn't want Mac users to feel left out
Thanks FL. I did check that the Local Address was the correct IP Address. I didn't realise it was running a little mini server otherwise I might have twigged on the server port.

I will try this shortly when I get home.

      Many thanks
      Mark

Re: Sky D-Link DSL-2640S Router How To Get Your Username & Password

Hi Guys. After having just moved here from Aus, I signed up with Sky and was also of the belief that I would get a Wireless N Router, but did not. I have asked Sky to send me one, so I'll see what they say, otherwise I'll get my own.

Reason for this post is to say that I'm using a Mac and was getting the same error as above, but after changing the Port to 8888 it worked no problems. Thank you very much. I now look forward to using a decent, fully functional router, this one does not even reach the bedroom, which is about 10 metres away.

What VPI, VCI and Protocol must I set my router to once I have the password? I'm using the DrayTek 2820n.

Re: Sky D-Link DSL-2640S Router How To Get Your Username & Password

      Hi Guys!

So that worked for my Mac. I changed the port to 8888 and this made it work fine.

Mind you I had to reboot the router 3 times before it would even let me log in (even though internet and wireless were working fine and allowed me to access webpages)! Another reason not to use the Sky router.

Programmed the username and password into my trusty old Linksys which worked absolutely fine. Even played the PS3 through it for a few hours to properly test it!

Thanks loads for your help on this!

Re: Sky D-Link DSL-2640S Router How To Get Your Username & Password

Got this working spot on last night. Well done.

However it took a few tries to get it to work... I had the anti-virus and firewall disabled but to no avail. In the end Windows Defender's real-time scanning was the problem - disabling this allowed the app to work. Windows Defender comes as standard with Vista and W7 and for me it was on by default.

If anyone else has a similar problem, try this first.

If the program has worked ok, the username it reported should be the Sky router's LAN Port MAC address (in lower case) @skydsl, and the password should be 15 characters long.

If you're sure you've got all the settings right, one thing to try is spoofing the Sky Router's ADSL (WAN) MAC address. There isn't an option in the PPPoA settings to do that on the Netgears I've got, but, on mine, If I select IPoA instead of PPPoA and put the MAC address in the WAN MAC field, and click apply, then go back and select PPPoA, it retains and uses the changed WAN MAC. It is possible selecting IPoA will lose all the settings you've entered.
