Re: Getting your V1 and V2 router passwords - the safe way

Hey,

My Sky router has been playing up really badly lately (if I reboot the router, the net is down for 4-5 hours before it's back on; no solid green light) and so desperately need a solution.

I'm trying to get this to work, but after I input the details it chucks the following back at me:

Quote:
It was not possible to determine your ADSL user name and password. Please check the data you entered and try again.
Any idea as to why I get an error?

I've tried inputting the MAC key with the : inbetween and without, and there is only one "Network Key" written on the back of my router.

Thanks.

EDIT:

Damn, it looks like it was because I thought the O was actually a 0 - I'm locked out now because I've tried 3 times. Is it possible you can unblock me? I'd really like to use another router today.

Update:

I phoned Sky and after 20-30 minutes of explaining to the woman WHY i was rebooting my sky router in the first place, she said she'll send me a new one...

Hope it's a v2

Just reboot the router and you should get a different IP address and then you'll be able to use the password generator again.

The only reason why there's a "three tries" limit is to slow down anyone who might be trying to do a "brute force" attack.

Hitting the "Sky test" button will also (usually) get you a new IP without a reboot.

Re: Getting your V1 and V2 router passwords - the safe way

The reason I needed the username and pass is because every time I reboot I loose net for 4-5 hours... Anyway Sky agreed to send a new one!

Re: Getting your V1 and V2 router passwords - the safe way

Quick question...If I go ahead a start using my old router instead of the Sky supplied Sagem, is there a way I can flash the Sky router with a basic Sagem firmware so a friend can use this (not a Sky connection)?

I know you have mentioned I can flash the Sagem back to the Sky settings but can it be an "out the box" type Sagem buld?

Hope this makes sense.

Cheers
