Re: Ive done it! Flashed router and got my sky password!
I have replaced sky's firmware with the latest netgear
The constant restarting of the router i needed to do before are now all gone, the router has been connected for 5 days now with no drop in speed.
Just to let people know the method works fine but not in Vista, has to be done on at least an XP machine.

Re: Ive done it! Flashed router and got my sky password!
I dont know what im doing wrong but i've followed the guide over three times word for word and the firmware will not flash.
I think it has something to do with the recovery program not working right, it loads fine then has a kind of graphical glitch
and although it lets me proceed it doesnt flash
anyone else had any problems? or know of another way. Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow, or it can crash! Be water, my friend. (Bruce Lee)

Re: Ive done it! Flashed router and got my sky password!
Me too... i'm having the same issue as the last two posts. I've attempted to flash exactly as per the instructions and I too get a graphic glitch, and the recovery program doesn't do anything when you press the update button.
Has anyone had this issue and then successfully updated?

Re: Ive done it! Flashed router and got my sky password!

Fantastic instructions - worked first time - now on V1.02.09
Connected at exactly the same speed as before....
Worked like a charm - hopefully this will help my disconnection problem.
Thanks to this forum...again.
UPDATE: That really has nailed it - why don't Sky do a new version of the firmware based on 1.02.09??? My connection never used to stay up for more than 5 hours, but now it's 149:30.xx and counting - highly recommended upgrade.
UPDATE: On further investigation - I've had ONE problem.....on 1.02.09 my O2 Mini-S XDA wouldn't log on in WPA-PSK security mode. Everything else - fine, but not with WPA. After reflashing the unit and much scratching of head, I downgraded to 1.02.04 and that fixed everything. Dunno if netgear have changed things for WPA-PSK but it really wouldn't connect via this security method.

Re: Ive done it! Flashed router and got my sky password!
I have tried this but to no avail. When i select the ethernet card and click next, it does not show the device list but shows the page which shows the model and version, but the ethernet adapter page is also still visible. see picture in last post.
What settings do you need for the ethernet adapter. If set to automatic all i get is limited or no connectivity.??
Cheers

Re: Ive done it! Flashed router and got my sky password!
Most problems like the ones above are normally caused by using a PC with Vista on. Is this the case?

There is also an outside chance that the Network card drivers need reinstalled. A update from MS created all sorts of problems for Realtek cards in particular
