Actually I guess we could start out with revealing the product of the two digits (d1 x d2) which would act as a sort of checksum. Once all were all agreed about having the same results we could confirm by revealing the actual two digits.
It's nice to trust people, but it's nicer not to have to.
Edit: Sorry to keep editing my posts but I realise I was talking nonsense there, if one of the digits were a prime it would be trivial to find both digits from the product. Something like dividing the product by 10 and giving the remainder would be a better safeguard.
