"as said a million times before, Sky supply a locked down router because it means training is given to that one and they don't have to train people up on all manner of possible hardware configurations..."
Fair point...

Re: Anyone managed to hack the SAGEM Rubbish yet Hi everyone
Another newbie here.
I use, I mean I have to use the Sagem router. It works fine for me at the moment as I'm only really a browser. However my kids are connected to it wirelessly and they tell me it's not brilliant and they cant get on to a lot of the sites they used to when we were on Virgin Media before Christmas.
Reading the forums seems to tell me that the Sagem may not be able hackable. My question is...if I buy a V1 or V2 router on ebay and hack extract the username and password, will those details work for me or are they only applicable to the original owner of the router.
Cheers
Dave

Re: Anyone managed to hack the SAGEM Rubbish yet
They should work OK
1) Its against the T and C's
2) You risk losing all support and termination of your account
3) Your call
But yes it should work

Re: Anyone managed to hack the SAGEM Rubbish yet
Possibly two issues there.
Before you decide whether to get and use equipment and password/username that have been allocated to someone else, try this first:
Wireless can be flaky at the best of times and it is very susceptible to interference (as well as being generally rubbish for speed and gaming). Make sure that the router is up off the ground and away from other electrical devices and large metal objects. In particular, keep any other wireless devices such as dect phones, video senders, baby monitors etc well away from it. Lastly, you may get a much improved wireless connection if you change wireless channels in the router. Try a few - one may be much better than another. Wired would be best though.
Not getting on sites that you could with Virgin is rather odd. The internet doesn't work that way and sites aren't blocked by Sky. I wonder if it is just an artefact of the wireless issue? Probably is (sites timing out) but it may possibly be a DNS issue. If getting a better wireless signal doesn't help then consider setting your computers to use OpenDNS rather than Sky's. If you go to their site you'll find simple instructions and also several threads about how to do it in Skyuser's forums. The other possibility is that you've loaded and are using Mcafee. This can certainly block access from time to time. Many people find this product is quite problematical.

Re: Anyone managed to hack the SAGEM Rubbish yet Hi
Thank you Newsreader and Saturday for your replies and help.
I moved the router up onto a table as it was on the floor. Used the opendns settings and theres has been a big improvement with the wireless results. My kids say there download speeds improved and the can now get on there preferred sites again. I didn't realise that I could used a wired connection so that is a bonus also as I have my original cat5 lead in place that I connected to my Virgin Media modem.
I connected this back up to my pc upstairs and my download speeds have gone from 6 - 7Mb to over 13Mb.
Glad I joined the forums.
Thanks again
Dave

Re: Anyone managed to hack the SAGEM Rubbish yet
So far, 8 people have download the images needed to crack the Sagem router (and another 2 have just downloaded the F@ST 2404 image). So anything to report back? Did it all go well?
