No bravery was needed. I don't actually have a V2 router - I just got other people to try it out.
Good job I did get it right really. I wouldn't have been a very popular forumer if people had ended up with broken routers are a result of my modified firmware.

The modified firmware is based on the official Sky firmware with two exceptions, and only two exceptions: (1) the telnet daemon is enabled and (2) the router dumps the connection username and password into the file /tmp/password.txt. There are no other differences. It has the same Sky user interface, the same Sky auto-update feature, it is absolutely identical apart from those two changes.

There is the original unmodded firmware on the CD that comes with the router, but it is an older version of firmware, than the firmware that is originally on the router. I dont know what the differences are though.

Really? I was under the impression that only one version of the firmware for the DG934G has ever been released.

Whoops just got mixed up there with the Sagem. I think v1.1 is on the CD and the router comes with 1.5 on it.
Just ignore me lol

Re: How to obtain your username and password Netgear V2 DG934G Router
Question for you clever people/person who'se cracked this.
Isnt the user + pass the same regardless of you using a Sagem or the Netgear.
I presume it would have to be , considering I've just got (hopefully it is when I open the box when I get home) a Netgear sent out as I grumbled about the Sagem router.
For me to be able to plug one in and switch over I'm kind of thinking that the user + pass has to be the same on both routers for it to work?
Or do they configure an additional radius user + pass for a netgear if they send one out?
If they are the same then it shouldnt take a great deal of work, with a few examples to crack the encryption sho0uldnt it?

Re: How to obtain your username and password Netgear V2 DG934G Router
One of the first things I tried was seeing if the passwords on V2 routers are generated in the same way as the passwords on V1 routers. Unfortunately they are not.
I don't know for a fact how Sky manage their usernames and passwords, but from what I've gathered from reading about other people's experiences is that when a router is dispatched, its MAC address is obtained by scanning the box's barcode, and then a username (which is simply the MAC address followed by @skydsl) is added to the radius server, along with a password which is calculated according to what type of router has been scanned.
Since MAC addresses are unique, every router will be associated with a unique username and password, so anyone with more than one Sky router will have a different username and password for each one.
