I don't see any reason you should replace your Sony Xperia S with the Nexus 4. The Sony Xperia S is a great smartphone, the only thing I have against it is that it doesn't have a microSD card slot. But apart from that it's a really nice phone.

Sony's lack of support for UK SIM free handsets is the main reason. The initial release of ICS has some pretty poor bugs in it, for instance the screen remains black after a call so you can't end it.

Most other regions have had 3 or 4 updates to fix things but not the UK SIM free handsets, 4 months on and nothing.

Months and months of waiting for my Xperia S to be fixed have got to me and I'm waiting for a Nexus 4 to arrive.

I can do this on my connection now. With a faster upload I would be able to stream video content too.

I use Subsonic which works over HTTP/HTTPS meaning it will work easily when not on your home network as long as the ports are forwarded.

Only thing to watch out for is the settings on the android app, I had mine to cache unlimited songs and turned on 3G streaming and there were a load of tracks in my car playlist that even though I'd thought i'd pinned (Pinning forced caching and ignores cache size settings) and it turns out they hadn't.

Burned though about 2.5GB of Mobile data in a day, thankfully i'm on a plan that supposedly unlimited.

Also the Nexus 4 is a lovely device, android has come on leaps and bounds since I last had an android phone switched from an iPhone 4s and it's so nice to be able to do what *I* want with the device rather than what apple dictates what I should do with it.

      Re: Nexus 4

Just ordered my N4 from Google Play Store to replace my Desire HD - which incidentally, though 2.5 years old now, still can run Android 4.2 Custom ROM brilliantly smoothly but sadly will probably never get the likes of Sky Go or 4OD etc unless I revert to Froyo .

Anyone know if the 1-2 weeks shipping quoted on the website is accurate?

If you're lucky it will come considerably sooner, Mine did

Site said 2-3 weeks it was in reality something like 4 days (I'd ordered on a weekend)

Whoa! Mine came today too. Been playing with it all afternoon. Pure Android really is buttery smooth! So glad to have left the manufacturers' bolted-on stuff behind (and I was originally quite a fan of the HTC widgets ). I cannot make this baby perform the slightest nano-glitch ..

And thankfully too Sky Go performs faultlessly - on wifi anyway. Looking forward to testing it out on the bus tomorrow .

      Re: Nexus 4

It isn't pure android that's smooth it's jelly bean for all devices that's smooth because of project butter I've always used a third party launcher anyway so I've never known it not smooth TBH. Even a ZTE blade was smooth using launcher pro and things like touchwiz and sense should be sent to hell, they are crap. I'm using go launcher ex on my nexus 4.

4.2.2 is rolling out, anyone got it yet?
