      Re: BT price hike

This increase is probably to pay for the costs of all the junk mail they send out to former BT customers trying to get them to come back!

I get at least one colourful envelope per week, every week for the last 5 years or so since I quit BT call charges, goodness knows what it costs them in expenses.

Thats not to mention the regular phonecalls I receive from their sales people even though I'm signed up to the TPS.

More likely to pay off all the thousands of shareholders to stop them dumping their shares on the open market.

With the current financial issues, I am sure that BT wold like to encourage people to keep their BT shares and accept annual bonuses instead.

I'm with PlusNet and they have advised their charges are going up as of December

Personally, in a supposedly open and competitive market, I think it's wrong for companies to force price increases on folk during an existing contract but they do it because they know they can get away with it

With most of PlusNet contracts, you can leave any anytime as there is no minimum contract. Since Sky does have their equipment in your local exchange, you could easily move everything over too!

Hey thanks for checking that out

      I would if I could!

Turns out the phone is on a rolling monthly contract but the broadband is 12 months

I am going to look forward to BT Infinity now which hits Cumbernauld in March next year and very handily, my contract with Plusnet ends in April. I read on another thread that Sky is looking at fibre optic broadband so maybe a future opportunity there....

      Re: BT price hike

I'd looked it up for someone else, but I thought that the PlusNet Broadband was on a monthly contract too, unless you go for something like Fibre with them.

      Hell No!

      Terrible performance!

Worse than Talk Talk and Sky who I was with before that

      I average about 1.5mbps and 0.15 upload

      According to speedtest I'm a grade F

      Re: BT price hike

ADSL connection speeds always depend on your distance from the exchange. The person in question that I was researching for isn't that far away so she would get a good connection speed.

Sadly Sky doesn't have their equipment in the exchange, so she can't get the Unlimited product.

      Re: BT price hike

Aye that's the problem...the distance of my house from the local exchange

According to BT I should officially get 1mbps but I was getting 2.1 with Talk Talk and 1.9 with Sky...
