With some snow, would make an ideal Xmas card.

      Thanks

Maybe I'll play around with Photoshop - we don't get real snow in Worcestershire these days!

So, I come home from work on Thursday, to find The Wife has gone & bought a new camera, lol.

      Panason Lumix DMC-FZ28

10.1 MP, 18x optical zoom, Leica lens, blah blah blah.

I think it's some sort of halfway house between a compact & an SLR.

Looks v nice. She's still playing around with all the settings.

Should get some good pics with it on our American Adventure next year

      ----------EDIT---------------

"I think it's some sort of halfway house between a compact & an SLR."

Ah, yup - its a "bridge digital camera" apparently.

So where are the images that you have taken Matt? Surely you must have been testing it out

Re: What Camera have you got?

I haven't taken any - she hasn't let me play around with it yet, lol.

Fair enough I suppose - I get quite possessive over my gadgets, & it is her camera!

All Ally has done so far has take random pics of me, my desk, & shots out the window. Been playing with the manual settings, the zoom, & the "face detection" on the auto focus. She's trying to learn all the different stuff, as there's no point getting a camera with all these different manual settings to use, only to have it stuck on "Auto" all the time.

Does seem like a very nice bit of kit though.

We're off to the US next year, for a 2 week road trip round the Western US (California mainly, plus Vegas, Death Valley, & the Grand Canyon) on our 1 year anniversary / belated proper honeymoon - should get some awesome pics of all that

ROFL, and now, a month later, she's sold it... and bought a Nikon D40 DSLR, with a couple of lenses.

She's got into photography so much, that she found the Panny FZ28 "bridge camera" too limiting (which is funny, as originally she got that 'cos she thought a full-on DSLR would be too complicated).

Re: What Camera have you got?

I've had a Nikon D40 for 6 months and taken lots of pics. Nice camera with many features and it's large imaging sensor means it has very low noise in low light conditions. All round a good buy for 250. My only comment would be the standard zoom suffers from flare if shooting into the light and a lens hood really helps.

Remember it isn't the number of pixels that matter but the size of the imaging sensor. The D40 is unusual in that it has a much larger imaging sensor than many in it's price range and is more typical of a camera twice it's price.

Re: What Camera have you got?

      Greetings,

Used to have a Canon EOS something. But a mate of mine wanted the lens as he bought himself a Digital Canon while on holiday so I swapped him for a FujiFilm S5000 and a couple of XD Memory cards. I was more than happy as it had cost me a small fortune to get the films developed, took rather a lot of pics, but with the digital camera it was easier to put the pics on to a CD and create a slideshow.

This was taken a few years ago...

Now got a 1Gb card so can take over 600 pics.

I've recently bought a Fujifilm Zf20, it's not a super duper camera but its cute (read pink), takes clear shots and it won't be the end of the world if it gets damaged on a night out because it didnt cost a small fortune.

I've just bought a Canon Ixus 980 to replace my Ixus i5. Very nice indeed in comparison to the i5 Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS Digital Compact Camera - Canon UK

Re: What Camera have you got?

I have a Canon EOS400D and love it. I had the choice of the 450D but didn't really want the live view. The 400D has been a great camera for changing from film to digital.
