Season's television Xmas & New Year

      Hello All Happy New Year
Just thought as most of the population returns to work Today that it would be a good time
To access what all members thoughts were regarding the TV offerings over the festive period. My own thoughts are thank God for on demand & box sets plus any recordings not
Yet seen because this season's viewing was 'Bloody Awful' ......
      !!!!! Even worse than other
years I can remember and that go's for all broadcasters Itv, BBc, Sky etc
Thank God I have been collecting quite a few DVD's lately (second user ) at least we all enjoyed them some we even watched more than once.
I looked at the line up for Saturday nights viewing & believe me I think when my present contract expires in April it will need a serious look & a reduced price to recommit to a
      New Term.

      Just a Thought ...............Cheers

Hello Annie , We watched 'Love Actually ' that was a Free film gift from Sky plus quite a few
Dvd's that I had bought from second user company's I'm sure you know who they are....
but seriously the TV schedules were really 'Crap & the broadcasters should be ashamed when
you consider how much we pay Sky etc
I am really thinking it is way to much for the return ?....,.... !!!!

Hello Annie Well Lucky You ............!!!!
Apart from Discovery , Nat Geo & a couple more I dont think I would bother at All
Sky used to be really good & I have SkyQ so the best system on offer but even that
Cannot improve the ' Crap Content ' or the constant repeats that they churn out
      Every week Xmas or not.
We did watch an awful lot of YouTube some really good concerts 'springsteen ,Tina ,
found an amazing singer who I had never heard before 'Dana Winner' perform a live
version of 'One Moment in Time'
There were some Hallmark Xmas Movies on the Tube but for some reason the sound
Quality was very poor don't know why because it's normally no problem.

Re: Season's television Xmas & New Year

I gave up on Sky a long long time ago apart from their Broadband. I only ever watched the documentary channels and I soon discovered that their content was recycled on a regular basis. I decided that I wasn't going to pay Sky for the rubbish and went over to Freeview and Freesat. Still have to pay the BBC for the rubbish but that's bound in law and I have no choice. Freeview/Freesat is still rubbish, mostly, but at least it's free.

My only Sky product now, as I said, is Sky's broadband. I know others have problems but, for me, it has been brilliant.

Re: Season's television Xmas & New Year

Hello pete.i I must admit that sky Broadband Fibre Max that I have has nearly always worked
Really well and with the deals that I have (which ends april) have been cost effective whether
I keep Sky will depend on what they offer on expiry
But it's really the TV service that seems to have gone downhill even with SkyQ which is a
Great System although some features are still missing the cost is rising & the quality is
Falling with so many 'Really Crap Shows' & the repeats are not only on One Channel you see
The same show at different times on other channels.
So I think in April We will look very seriously before We recommit to a New Term.

NOW TV for (Fibre) broadband here. Itís literally Sky (Fibre) Broadband, but cheaper. Also use their tv passes. Probably more expensive than Sky if you were to subscribe continuously for long periods. But thereís no need to do that! Just dip in for a month here and there, as and when thereís stuff you want to watch then stop again for a while when thereís nowt you want to watch. Like you do with Netflix etc right? itís so easy to start, stop & re-start. Youíre in control.

Hi Speedyrite , I don't actually have Netflix just the entertainment channel without kids & plus boxsets with HD which annoys me to have to pay extra for has anyone tried to buy a tv without
      HD nowadays .
I may well give NOW TV ago if we decide not to renew in April we will see I expect it will depend
On What SWMBO has to say after all I am only a Male ......!!!!! 'Second Class Really' ......

Re: Season's television Xmas & New Year

Yes I agree the TV over the whole of the holiday period was pretty dire! There was only half a dozen programs for me that were worth watching. What is also starting to annoy me is the fact that the things I do want to watch seem to be spread across numerous platforms ie Sky, Netflix, Amazon and now Britbox! The cost just goes up and the content gets more diluted with more channels and platforms to choose from.
Maybe it was better in the old days when we had a limited number of channels.
